Safely in Virginia

17 July 2011

Just wanted to thank everyone for your prayers and let you know we’re safely in Virginia with Elizabeth’s parents. And very excited about getting married one week from today. 🙂 Looking forward to seeing many of you at our wedding!

Delayed in Port Moresby

12 July 2011

For those of you who have heard we’ve been delayed, and also for those of you who think we’re almost to America, here’s an update…

Our very first flight (out of Goroka) was hours late so we missed all of our other ones, but thanks to the hard work of Jeff, his brother, and our travel agent, I think has it’s just about all figured out. It sounds like we’ll finally be flying out of Port Moresby in just a little over an hour (if not, this afternoon) and then traveling via Brisbane (Australia), Hong Kong, Detroit, and New York to Charlotte. It’s exciting to see how the Lord has changed our plans over and over again and made them so much better. For instance, since we had to walk out we got the HUGE blessing of fellowship with the Aibai missionaries, and since we were delayed in Port Moresby we got to sleep (NOT sitting up!) for a few hours last night (we were both super tired from getting up at 1:30 am to drive to Goroka, and then I had gotten queasy in the car which is something that never goes away until I sleep). So… Isn’t the Lord good?!?

Hopefully I’ll be posting again soon to say we’re there! Keep praying, and thank you so much to all of you who have been praying.

We’re on our way!

10 July 2011

Just wanted to write a quick post to let everyone know that Jeff and I are on our way. We weren’t able to leave Kiari by chopper on Friday because of bad weather, so we ended up walking out yesterday. We left about 6:45 in the morning and by 4:45 pm had reached our coworker, Matt Crain, who came as far as he could on the road and drove us the rest of the way to Aibai, the other GFA mission station here in PNG. We’ve enjoyed sweet fellowship with the team here and the services today have been a huge blessing. We’ll drive to Goroka early in the morning, Lord willing arriving in time for our 10:55 flight. Please pray for the roads to be passable– a good bit of the way is pretty mucky from all the rain lately, though thankfully yesterday and today have been dry. Once we get to Goroka we’ll feel like we’re halfway there, even though we still have halfway around the world to go. 🙂 Please pray also for safely and good witnessing opportunities on our flights.
